Back from hiatus

No, Northeast Seattle Life hasn't disappeared! Just a combination of beautiful sunny days (remember when we had those?) and an incredibly busy work schedule kept me quiet for a little bit. My yard really thanks you for your patience.

My abandonment of blogging for gardening shouldn't come as a surprise to many people because, as most residents know, when living in this city it's hard not to have a total and complete infatuation with sunny days. It makes Seattle seem ten times more beautiful, exciting and full of activity. 

So as I write this on a cold, dreary morning, on a day which makes our city have the coldest maximum high temperature so far this year of any major city in the lower 48 states, I remind myself that the sunny days WILL be back...and how all this rain is really good for my garden.

Tax Day Meetup in Wedgwood Tomorrow!

For those who like to wait to the last minute, a final warning that your taxes are due tomorrow, April 15th. Get those suckers in the mail (or submitted online if you prefer like I do) and then head over to the Tax Day Meet Up being held at Black Pearl Restaurant (7347 35th Avenue NE) in Wedgwood!

I'm co-hosting the event with Kristin, of Seattle Events fame, and Annie, the general manager of Black Pearl, so it's guaranteed be a really fun time and a great way to meet new people from NE Seattle and beyond!

Passage Through to a New Year

As cliched as it is, I love the feeling of starting fresh on New Year's Day.  Resolutions or not, it's the perfect time to let go of things that didn't go right in the past year and optimistically focus on the positivity which the future holds.

I recently stumbled onto Rebecca Dietz and Anne Viaggiano's blog, Well Done, that wonderfully exemplifies this feeling; especially in Rebecca's post about passing through the gates of 2010 with high hopes.

New Post Series!

If there's one thing I know it's that I like to eat.  Notice I didn't say how to eat.  Yes, I know how to eat, and frequently describe myself as a foodie, but I've never claimed to possess a perfectly tuned palate; nor do I have any professional culinary experience.  I'm just lucky enough to have grown up surrounded by family and friends who like to feed people really good food, including an obsessive cook for a sister and meat-loving chef for a brother-in-law.

Maiden Post

As a fourth-generation Seattleite, born and raised on the mean streets of Capitol Hill, the love of this city is bred into my genes.  I have left twice - Washington, DC and New Orleans - but no matter how much I loved those towns, something kept pulling me back.  There is nothing I love more than exploring different shops, eating meals I can't afford at new restaurants and checking out events happening right in the center of Seattle.

So...why am I writing about life in Northeast Seattle? Good question.
