Weekend Holiday Happenings: Dec. 18-20

It's the last weekend before Christmas so I know everyone is going to be doing one thing - shopping.  Okay, maybe that's just me.  (Mental note: start Christmas shopping a few weeks earlier.)  For those a little more organized, there are some great holiday events going on in NE Seattle:

Christmas Ships
There is nothing more unique to Seattle during the holidays than the Christmas ships. Watch the parade of decorated boats while listening to the Northwest Girls Choir singing from the Argosy Ship. Get there on time because they are almost always on schedule!
Matthews Beach
Saturday 12/19; 9:45-10:05 PM

University Farmer's Market
This weekend is the climactic finish of the Christmas party season.  Lots of people, including yours truly, will be celebrating with friends and family and what better place to get amazing local produce/veggies and other yummy food than the largest farmer's market in Seattle.  Go buy a pie and save your baking time for drinking hot buttered rums.
University Heights Center
University Way NE & NE 50th Street
Saturday, 12/19: 9:00 AM-2:00 PM; FREE

Uncle Mike Ruins Christmas
To correctly describe this latest Jet City Improv show, I think a picture is worth a thousand words.  If that scares you off, maybe you should hit their earlier show - Rudolph: The Next Verse (8:00 PM on Fridays).
The Historic University Theater
5510 University Way NE
Friday, 12/18 and Saturday 12/19: 12:30 AM; $8

Magnuson Holiday Fun Run
Buck the traditional holiday lifestyle of eating, drinking and, well, more eating, by participating in the this holiday 5k, 10k or walk.  The weather is supposed to be nice Saturday afternoon.
Magnuson Park
7400 Sand Point Way NE
Saturday, 12/19: 10:00 AM; $10

Seattle Women's Chorus: Making Spirits
Get your Christmas carols on at the annual production by the Seattle Women's Chorus.
Meany Theater
University of Washington
Saturday, 12/19: 8:00 PM and Sunday, 12/20: 2:00 PM; $20-50

Magical Strings Celtic Yuletide Concert
From The Seattle Times: "The Boulding Family celebrates 31 years of performing Celtic music in the Northwest with their holiday tour." I must admit that this really isn't my thing, but for the Von Trapp Family resemblance alone, it had to go on the list.
University Christian Church
4731 15th Ave NE
Saturday, 12/19; 3:00 PM; $15-20

It's A Wonderful Life - A Live Radio Play
The Attic Theatre group presents the radio play of this iconic Christmas tale.  Hankering for the Jimmy Stewart version? The Grand Illusion Cinema is still playing it every night until New Year's.
Calvary Christian Assembly
6801 Roosevelt Way NE
Sunday, 12/20: 6:00 PM; FREE

What'd I miss?? Leave a comment and let me know about other cool events.
