Helicopters Flying Over House Fire in Maple Leaf This Morning

I was woken up this morning to the loud sounds of a helicopter flying close by.  Did anyone else hear it? Apparently it was the KIRO7 news copter hovering over a house fire in Maple Life  at 23rd Ave NE and 86th Street.  Fire crews have been working on the sizable fire for quite some time.  Luckily, KIRO reports that firefighters did not find any people in the home.

Yes, I saw it. I woke up to the same sound. I'm less than a block away, it's pretty chilling. twitter/cocomele

i could actually see the fire from my window. i woke up as the fire trucks pulled up in front of the house which was entirely engulfed in flames. i was surprised by how quickly they put it out, though—it couldn't have been more than a couple of minutes.

did they say how the fire started? i always thought that house was abandoned.

Thanks for the comments, Coco and David! How scary to have that happen so close to your house but great to hear that the Fire Department got it out so quickly.

No word yet on how the fire started but I'll post an update when I find out!
