What's With the Explosions in Laurelhurst?

Reports about the trash can explosion Saturday night near NE 45th Street and 42nd Avenue NE, followed by the exploding five-gallon cooler at the corner of NE 55th Street and 31st Avenue NE on Sunday, are popping up all across the internet.  Everyone's wondering who is setting off these homemade bombs - and why, of all places, did they choose Bryant/Laurelhurst?

As of right now, the Seattle Fire and Police haven't released any leads in the case.  No one has been hurt; and other then the death of a cooler and a garbage can, there hasn't been any significant property damage.  Let's hope nothing further comes out of this trend other than the many hilarious comments received on post's such as this one on the Slog.
